General Summary

The product specialist role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to establish a career in the telecommunication market. This role will be part of the Microwave Systems group, a market leader in design, manufacturing and supply of microwave antennas and accessories portfolio. This product specialist role allows an entry into product management by building a deep understanding of the business unit, products, applications and market. As Product Specialist, you will learn the fundamentals of CommScope Microwave antenna design through final manufacture and logistical channels. This role will allow exposure to internal and limited external customer support as you will provide technical support to sales, business development personnel, customer care and assist the Product Line Management team. This roles career path through Product Specialist levels onto a full Product Line Manager Role with potential responsibility of OEM or regional responsibilities. Duties & Responsibilities

  • During the Initial onboarding period the Product Specialist will assist the product line team with the following responsibilities
  • Technical Sales support – assisting with global Technical sales support for sales and customers
  • Marketing – assisting with database and catalogue maintenance
  • Reporting – assisting our product manager to collate and generate market and cost reporting
  • Product line back up (vacation, holidays etc.)
  • Sales/partner training collateral and delivery
  • Competitive analysis
  • PLM website maintenance (SharePoint, and external)
  • Regional technical sales support node ownership
  • Marketing – general end user activities, business development, blogs, tradeshows etc.
  • Customer escalation management (liaising with Ops/procurement/Engineering)


Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical field with 2+ years of relevant experience or 5 years of experience in an engineering/ technical/ telecommunications/technical support type role without a bachelor’s degree
  • Enthusiastic, energic, self-motivated
  • Must have customer focus attitude yet balance with business needs
  • Excellent decision-making and interpersonal communication skills
  • A people person - good communicator, persuasive with a relaxed presentation style
  • Communicates confidently on technical subjects
  • Interested in technology, new ideas, and capable of learning on the job 
  • Analysis - knowledge of tools such as excel spreadsheets, word, PowerPoint essential
  • Willing to travel - 20% of the time could grow during busy or after onboarding to 50%
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure


Desired Skills:

  • Some knowledge of telecoms and transmission networks would be advantageous but not essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field
  • A second language in Spanish is advantageous but not essential
