Title:  Director of Continuous Improvement

CommScope is hiring a Director of Continuous Improvement. We are open to hire this person in any of these given locations - Claremont, NC /Catawba, NC/ Greensboro, NC/Richardson TX.


General Summary:

Vision, Strategy and Goals

  • As a regional Continuous Improvement leader within CommScope, your role will be key in
    • providing input into an ongoing long term (3-year) Corporate Continuous Improvement strategy
    • enhance the customer experience based on Commscope delivering world class performance and products, through waste elimination & maximizing value add
    • allowing stakeholders to improve the organization through their personal development of knowledge, understand and application of key Lean/6 Sigma principles and techniques
  • The breadth of the role will cover CommScopes Extended Value Stream which will include but not be limited to  
    • Supply Chain (Suppliers, Supplier Logistics, Direct Shipment)
    • Operations (factory, Inter entity & DCs including supporting logistics
    • Business Process (in direct functions and IT system infrastructure)
    • Customer processes
  • The position will be responsible to create an environment within region that promotes, communicates, educates, deploys, develops the strategic vision & delivers consistent performance to continuous improvement goals through
    • a balance of quality and speed 
    • supporting Integrity of Design, Production and Delivery at an optimum cost, based on the business need to meet the customers’ requirements
    • monitor execution of objectives to goal and initiating course changes as and when required in support of goal attainment
  • The position will be responsible regionally to facilitate, support and deliver the Lean into Excellence program and its associated profit improvement (PIP) goals for the region.



  • Be a champion for “Lean into Excellence.”
  • Promote value through facilitating ideation that enhances value add and eliminates non value add.
  • Create and champion a Kaizen culture that embraces “speed” for positive change.
  • Create and champion a culture of learning directed to achieving goals, through effective training and support of skill development in program.
  • Be an integral partner with other departments eg Design, Operations, Manufacturing Eng, Quality Eng, Planning, Procurement, PLM etc in Continuous Improvement
  • Champion cross functional utilization of Continuous Improvement tools, further to also encourage effective communication of ideas, feedback, and concerns from all levels of the organization.



  • Encourage the development, deployment and use of
    • lean/6 Sigma tools at Strategic and Tactical level to promote the use of data and tools to sustain improved performance.
    • active learning in a workshop and on the job environment


Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence

  • Be an evangelist for Continuous Improvement initiatives that drive Business Excellence.
  • Support Lean into Excellence through
    • constant assessment and development of CommScopes skills base of problem solvers within region, further develop this resource, through training, mentoring,  and coaching in regards to utilization of appropriate tools and techniques, such as Lean, Six Sigma, VSM to reduce waste, reduce variability, improve processes, and identify and mitigate risks. 
    • Assure compliance to corporate standards at all time eg PDP, PTP, ECN, TDA (Inclusive of risk assessments



Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s in a primary Engineering curriculum, Quality Engineering, or Engineering Management w/ 15+ Years of Related Experience.
  • 5 years minimum problem-solving skills at international level.
  • Black belt qualification.
  • Management of an international program for Continuous Improvement.
  • Training. Strong communication and presentation skills. Applied internationally.
  • 6 sigma SPC tool box experience of training and application.
  • SPC package experience eg minitab.
  • Lean VSM, Create Continuous Flow, Standard work etc
  • Management of a belt culture and organization.
  • Belt training experience
  • Financial Management Training is nice to have
