Title:  Manager, Business Continuity

General Summary

The BC Manager is responsible for working with business units and sites in developing and maintaining Crisis Management, Communication and associated Business Continuity Plans. This person will work with other members of the Business Continuity Team, typically the site BC Coordinators, to support the businesses through business impact assessments, risk assessment, exercises, and incident planning / management.  The primary goal is to ensure continuity readiness and compliance with the Global Continuity Program Standards

Duties & Responsibilities

Support and guide facilities in the creation and maintenance of plans and protocols related to Business Continuity initiatives designed to avoid and/or minimize negative impact to employees, operations and customers.  Work with the local Business Continuity Coordinators and the business to develop strategies that include property protection, plan management, incident management support and business recovery.

Note:  The BC Manager will work with the sites in all areas of Business Continuity.

PLANS

  • Work with sites to maintain current and accurate records in the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
  • Create, document and enhance continuity plans supporting critical systems and functions during a business interruption.
  • Understand dependencies for business processes, business functions, applications, technology and internal / external parties related to the business.
  • Raise business challenges to Director Global Risk Mgmt. that could impact continuity planning, response and recovery.

TESTING / EXERCISES

  • Identify, develop and participate in testing scenarios. 
  • Ensure all testing results are properly tracked and documented in BCMS with associated action plans for resolution of gaps and opportunities for improvement.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS / TRAINING

  • Maintain contact information integrity within the global mass notification system and be proficient in initiating notifications and system orientation.
  • Contribute to and support Education and Awareness Training to increase global awareness of Crisis Mgmt., Business Continuity and Global Communications.
  • Stay current with industry best practices by participating in internal and external training and conferences.

METRICS

  • Work with the various BC teams to create, update and report on KPI’s around the effectiveness of sites to prepare for, respond to and recover from a business disrupting event.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  •  Bachelor’s in related curriculum such as (Risk Mgmt. / Training / EHS) and/or related operational experience
  • 5-8 years of related experience
  • Fully Bilingual (written and spoken)
  • Must be willing to travel at least 25% of the time with off-hour on-call support.
  •  
  • Ability to create, organize and deliver training materials to expand knowledge on the CommScope BCM system.
  • Strong database management skills.
  • Extremely organized and understands the sense of urgency during a business disrupting event. 
  • Ability to simultaneously focus on multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communications.  Must be able to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with business partners in remote locations within all levels of the organization.
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Self-starting/self-managing, ability to handle diverse situations with limited management direction.  Demonstrates ability to think ahead and take action to ensure success.
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing environment and new challenges.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from all cultures.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to deliver results and to build cross-cultural teams.

 

 

 Bachelor’s in related curriculum such as (Risk Mgmt. / Training / EHS) and/or 5-8 years related operational experience
