Title:  Import & Export NAFTA Specialist

General Summary:

Leader of the NAFTA activities related to the manufacturing operation located in the Border with Mexico.

 

The primary objectives are:

 

  1. To ensure the integrity and compliance of the Customs Border Protection regulations related to NAFTA. 
  2. To safeguard our company’s data base used to comply with NAFTA regulations. 
  3. Strong partnership with site operation, Procurement Team and Cost Accountants to support our Company goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):

  • Monitoring and ensure that all finished goods assembled or manufactured at the Reynosa facilities are qualified for NAFTA preferential treatment if they meet the NAFTA Rules.

 

  • Proactively obtain, manages and review NAFTA Certificates of Origin and Manufacturer’s Affidavits from suppliers.

 

  • Responsible for reviewing both Mexican and US Tariff Classifications for finished goods and raw materials to ensure that they are accurate for input in the Annex 24 Database.

 

  • Review BOMs for accuracy for input in the Annex 24 Database.

 

  • Issue and control NAFTA Certificates of Origin for Finished Goods and monitor NAFTA Claims and Refunds with US and MX Customs Broker.

 

  • Responsible for ensuring that NAFTA or US Goods Returned (9801) provisions are used and optimized for the importation and exportation of raw materials and equipment.
  • Record and report to Management the Duty payment activity in a monthly basis, as well as looking for opportunities to reduce or avoid them.
  • Manage and maintain the Data Base use in the Company to support NAFTA activity, insuring the accuracy of the information.
  • Proactively work with BU representatives, Procurement & Cost Accountants to obtain the information required to maintain the NAFTA data base.
  • Keep abreast with the latest Customs regulatory updates. Assess their business impact and implement solutions for the best of the company.Job Specifications:
  • The NAFTA Analyst will be a driver that is capable of working at the strategic and hands-on tactical level;
  • Background dealing with Customs regulatory providing solutions to the represented business;

 

Skills:

  • Completed career in Foreign Trade or Administration (desirable)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 year experience in NAFTA and HTS classification.
  • Communication skills, which are critical to building support from other area of influence;
  • Computer skills, MS Office, ZOE, Edicomex and SAP
  • leadership skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism;
  • Strong process and technical skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical facility
