Technician II, Test

General Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position will be to test fiber optic products per established work instructions to evaluate product performance and collect data that provides evidence of conformance to product requirements


How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

Duties & Responsibilities
•Conduct optical, mechanical, and environmental tests of fiber optic products to assess compliance to product requirements.
•Collect, record, analyze and report test data.
•Follow testing schedule and provide status in the lab request system.
•Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to analyze and report data.
•Utilize custom computer software used with test equipment to acquire data.
•Review and approval of test plans and reports if required.
•Utilize test request system to update test status.
•Communicate issues in a timely manner to the test engineer.
•Assist in performing failure analysis.
•Thorough knowledge/experience with corporate, business unit and lab quality management system documentation.
•Thorough knowledge/experience with relevant industry standards for fiber optic products
•Thorough knowledge/experience with the range of lab test equipment.
•Thorough knowledge/experience with fiber optic products and technical principals.
•Thorough knowledge/experience with internal and external customer expectations.
•Follow department safety and efficiency programs.
•Participate in test equipment maintenance and validations if required.
•Complete training on lab processes, procedures and test methods as required.
•Collaboration with current lab staff which includes other test engineers and technicians in team-oriented environment.
•Familiarity with a wide range of fiber optic products or equivalent.


RELATED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s in engineering and experience with testing of fiber optic products as per international and IS standards and experience in a laboratory environment.


SKILLS REQUIRED
•Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office.
•Skilled at planning and ability to pay attention to details.
•Ability to effectively work within a team environment.
