Senior Engineer

General Summary 

The Engineer/Engineering Supervisor will act as an initial product engineer in the CommScope Goa manufacturing facility.  The role will over time build a small engineering team, and guide and support them in the execution of the R&D function for passive fiber optic products. The team will be responsible for Continuation engineering activities for CommScope’s data center business for Asia customers and supply chain. 

This role is a hands-on Engineer who can execute as a product engineer, but who can also develop and executing human resource strategies to achieve established objectives. Additionally, the role will identify and propose solutions to technical roadblocks and barriers to system improvements. They will also help the organization manage customer product quality, manufacturing, and other issues related to the group's products and processes.

How You'll Help us Connect the World: 

• Support and lead product engineering team for optical connectors, cable assemblies, panels, and other products in Asia.
• Collaborates with the team in the Goa facility and other international locations to improve performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Manages the assigned projects and activities of the team and defines work roles to achieve objectives.
• Recruits new employees as the team workload grows
• Identifies resources needed to support existing product lines and develops competencies of the team to support new products and technologies.
• Provides day-to-day direction, guidance and support to direct reports.
• Responsible for evaluating staffing requirements and managing staffing changes as appropriate in order to achieve the team's business objectives.
• Manages department budget, materials, expenses and external services within approved operating and capital budgets.
• Provide input and support expected from Customer Service, Product Management, Marketing Operations, and Sales.

Requaired qulaification for Consideration 

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering
• Strong skills with CREO or SolidWorks
• Preferably 10+ years of relevant Engineering experience
• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify problems, and devise effective solutions.
• Ability to identify root causes and leveraging team strengths to accomplish goals
• Strong people skills and ability to lead a team
• Ability to understand and create complex bills of materials and fiber routings
• Knowledge of resins, injection molding, sheet metal design and fabrication, and manufacturability for assembly operations.
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills
