Position title: Officer, EHS

Report to title: Manager EHS

Location-Verna Goa

General Summary : Develop and implement EHS compliance, improvement programs and systems for the site. Participate in EHS program planning and implementation and provide recommendations for improvement of EHS culture. Complete & update Corporate reporting into Entropy software system, regulatory compliance and other reporting tasks. Provide training to the workforce related on various industrial safety, health and environmental programs and related compliance topics. Coordinate EHS Inspections, Audits, Meetings, etc.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement EHS compliance, improvement programs and systems for the site.
  • Participate in EHS program planning and implementation and provide recommendations for improvement of EHS culture.
  • Complete & update Corporate reporting into Entropy software system, regulatory compliance and other reporting tasks.
  • Provide training to the workforce related on various industrial safety, health and environmental programs and related compliance topics.
  • Coordinate EHS Inspections, Audits, Meetings, etc.
  • Implement EHS Management System which includes identifying and conducting assessment of all Environmental, Health & Safety Aspects & Risks.
  • Timely reporting of EHS KPI's & Monitoring Records into entropy software before due date.
  • Assess and ensure Training needs are identified and supported through the development of comprehensive compliance programs.
  • Facilitate training delivery consistent with plant EHS programs and ISO system.
  • Coordinate with External approved institutes for EHS trainings
  • Facilitate programs like 'Safety Starts with Me', 'At Risk Behaviors Inspection' and Safety Tool box talks across the site.
  • Reporting & Investigation of all Incidents and entering in Entropy (Near miss, minor, major & Environmental incidents)
  • Coordinate for implementation of ISO 14001 AND 45001 EHS Management system and Audits
  • Conduct EHS Audit and corrective action plan tracker for compliance.
  • Coordinate and enhance the Safety Excellence Roadmap score and EMS (Emergency Medical Services).
  • Prepare & coordinate Periodical Medical checkup and maintain the records.
  • Prepare and submit requisite monthly, Quarterly & yearly compliance report to statutory bodies.
  • Gathers and analyzes data at the facility on EHS metrics to assist in assessing trends, issues and areas for improvement and prepares regulatory required reports.
  • Assists operations staff in the assessment and development of environmental-related capital projects and the environmental impact of other managed projects at the facility.
  • Oversees subcontractor adherence to Environment, Health & safety requirements
  • Oversees the management of work-related injuries at the site.
  • Evaluates and analyzes injuries and related trends for the site and works directly with operations team to establish root causes and implements associated corrective and preventative measures.
  • Coordinate the waste Management program which includes waste/scrap collection, scrap loading /disposal through Authorized contractors, identification & approval of waste contractor into Entropy system.
  • Will be assigned roles and responsibilities to support New Business expansions, projects and Construction Safety.
  • Conduct regular inspection to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Conduct risk assessment & impact aspect study as per the ISO requirement.
  • Develop & Conduct regular EHS training to develop & sustain EHS culture.
  • Implementation of Work Permit Systems: Hot Work Permit, Height Work Permit, etc.
  • Issuing job specific work permits will ensure that specific job related safety concerns are addressed.
  • Conduct EHS audits and work place inspection and ensure 100% compliance & completion of identified observation.
  • Develop& implement annual EHS training plan as per EHS training matrix.
  • Will be assigned specific roles in ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 implementation and documentation
  • Monthly Wellness program will be managed by individual EHS Officers.
  • Responsibility of OHC and Crèche will be assigned to individual EHS officers.
  • Officer will follow up for timely compliance of Entropy tasks raised.
  • Officer will be given responsibility of conducting effective mock drills
  • Periodic fire drills will be conducted, ensuring maximum employees are trained and retrained in Fire Fighting
  • Conducting and documenting of EHS Committee meetings.
  • All legal requirements, compliances, document submissions will be assigned to these officers.
  • Management of incident reporting and investigation with CAPA
  • Management of Behavior based safety program( safety starts with me, Tool box talk, behavioral observation program, supervisor inspection, etc.)
  • Presentation for EHS performance review

 

Education and Experience and Skill Required:

  • Degree / Bachelors In Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) with at preferably 08-10 years of experience in a full time EHS role.
  • Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety as per provisions of Factories Act 1948.
  • Recognition from Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers (Govt. of Goa) as 'Safety Officer'.
  • Masters or Diploma in Environment / Fire is also an added advantage.
  • Understanding of legal requirements from Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers, Goa Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and working knowledge of related documentation is required.
  • Should be well-versed with ISO and Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) procedures.
  • Should be well-versed with Factories Act, 1948 and Applicable Rules & its compliances.
  • Should be well-versed with Pollution & Environment Act, Compliances.
  • Working Knowledge of ISO 14001 & 45001
  • Excellent communication, Computer and presentation skills are desired.
  • Should be well versed with Project safety management and contractor safety management
