General Summary

Responsible for the development, implementation and successful execution of the overall business plan for the product business unit, including supporting the growth of gross revenue and for ensuring that profitability meets corporate product fulfillment objectives.  Achieves objectives by delegating authority to key supervisors in production, production control, methods, cost accounting, maintenance, and other related operations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and mentors operations supervisors, team leaders, quality engineers, process engineers and planners to optimize overall effectiveness, increase new product speed to market, and to balance/prioritize objectives.  Lead team to achieve customer requested delivery, quality, parts per million and localization objectives.
  • Leads effort, in conjunction with the Corporate Quality organization, to develop and implement a pro-active quality plan that is consistent with the Corporate Quality philosophy and business unit goals and objectives.  Ensure that organization is a low cost producer by leading quality effort through continuous process/quality improvements such as the elimination of waste in operations.
  • Supervises local/tactical procurement activities (Vendors development, bids, commitments, sourcing decisions, cost reductions) for ongoing products.
  • Employs team based philosophies and practices in establishing a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Supervises maintenance activities within production area.
  • Develops staffing plans and establishes work plans and schedules on projects.  Responsible for personnel management including recruiting/hiring, supervision, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals and terminations.  Prioritize staff workloads in order to meet product needs/objectives in all area.  Develop and train staff to ensure high skill levels.  Motivate/encourage teamwork among the workforce and maintain high employee morale and positive attitudes to achieve high level customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in overall site project management and projects including attendance at site Manager Meetings, ISO 14000 certification, etc.
  • Supervise the activities of Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, Buyer, Other operations supervisors.  Provide direction to team leaders, quality engineers, process engineers, planners, buyers etc.

Project Management:  Provides overall technical leadership for developing and implementing innovative processes and technologies.  Initiates activity and identifies applications for new processes and technologies.  Makes appropriate recommendation to management regarding scope and resource requirements of project.  Once approved, manages projects with minimal support from management.  Estimates required tasks and resources for manufacturing methods and establishes timeline for projects.  Monitor measures of project performance and report project status to management.

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computers; various software productivity tools such as SAP, MS Office, etc.
