Engineer, Field Application

CommScope is looking to add a Field Application Engineer to the Broadband APAC Team. The ideal candidate will be based in Japan.

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

Provide pre-sales and post-sales product and technical support for the Broadband Business Unit in the APAC region. Assist CommScope’s internal and external customers as a contributing team member, supporting Product and Account Management and Sales teams with current, modified, and new CommScope applications and configurations. Deliver application engineering support for CommScope’s Broadband product portfolio by introducing new products, collaborating with customers to resolve and document requirements, developing product specifications, and collaborating with product managers to build fit-for-purpose products. Additionally, participate in forums, seminars, customer meetings, and public events as a domain expert.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

• Degree or diploma in electrical, optical, or telecommunications fields.
• 8 to 10+ years of experience in customer consultation or support.
• Previous experience in outside plant/inside plant engineering and post-sales support of fiber and copper networks with service provider customers.
• Experience and knowledge in FTTx network design.
• Proficiency in optical distribution frames, optical passives, splice closures, outside plant cables, access terminals, cabinets, drop cable assemblies, copper terminals, accessories, and other related products for access network cabling.
• Understanding of local Telecom standards for building, electrical, and data communication codes and regulations.
• Familiarity with international Telecom standards such as Telcordia, ITU-T, and IEC.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English.
• Demonstrates maturity, a strong work ethic, and a high degree of integrity in maintaining the confidentiality of intellectual property for both CommScope and its customers.

You Will Excite Us If You Have:

• Familiar with data center industry trends.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in using CommScope products.
• Understanding of FTTX and transport technologies and networks, with a preference for experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting these networks.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, test equipment such as optical time domain reflectometers, optical power meters and sources, and multimeters is strongly preferred.
