Director, Platform Engineering

This Director role is pivotal within the CommScope Home Networks organization, offering an opportunity to impact Home Networks business growth and success. Responsibilities include handling the design and development of cable modems, gateways, mesh routers, and other Home Networks products through Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) vendors. Leading a team of hardware, software, and project engineers, you'll serve as the primary interface for ODM projects and ensure the successful development and launch of new products, measured by time-to-market, cost, and product quality metrics. The products built will power internet connections in millions of homes.

How You'll Help Us Connect the World

Responsibilities:

• Effectively engaged with chip vendors, ODMs, and peers to understand technology advancement, roadmap, and cost trends.
• Work closely with product line managers (PLM) and System Engineering at concept stage to define the product feature specification and transcribe market requirements into technical specifications to be implemented by internal, ODM, and other 3rd-parties.
• Coordinate closely with supply chain to solicit competitive bids from ODM partners.
• Work across teams to review scope, develop project milestones and schedule, and drive cross-functional team members to meet the delivery by identifying risks early and developing mitigation plans.
• Run program reviews to update stakeholders. Update the project cost, schedule, and quality regularly and identify risks and support needed to be successful for programs. Handle critical issues within the project delivery.
• Lead a culture of accountability in the team. Setup change and risk management practices to keep work on track.
• Collaborate closely with Beta Program manager to understand beta tester issues and drive development partners to resolve them to meet quality criteria before product launch.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

• At least 15 years of engineering and product development experience, preferably in networking and telecommunication
• At least 8 years of people management responsibility of the software R&D team
• Experience in NPI for consumer markets
• Working experience with project methodologies such as agile and hardware development EVT/DVT/PVT framework
• Thorough understanding of engineering design and processes
• Have a track record of successful program delivery from concept to production
• Experience working with remote and overseas teams and ability to engage across various cultural and language environments
• Effective organization, project management, and coordination skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Good communication skills in English, written and verbal.

• Expert in embedded firmware and Wi-Fi networking
• Experience in the design and development of Wi-Fi gateways and routers
• Proven experience in establishing a leadership identity for the ODM partner
• PMP or other project management certification
