Title:  VP, Software Engineering

We are looking for an experienced, highly energized, and results-oriented VP of Software Engineering in Suwanee, GA!! Ideal for someone with CPE and Cloud-based architectural experience, who wants to deploy the most recent technology as the company pivots over the next few years. Ideal candidate will have experience in understanding the core CPE models, developing Cloud-based solutions, and enhancing our ability to develop a strategy that enables CPE components to be Cloud-based.

In this managerial role, impact the organization by ensuring the expedient and successful development of our core Broadband and Video/CPE solutions, including future Cloud-based and virtualized architectures. Oversee a team of 450+ engineers globally. Ensure smooth cross-team and cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure consistent performance management. Provides both strategic and technical leadership to the entire SW organization; keeping updated on current technological advancements; allocating resources for the business unit; motivating and evaluating managers in the organization; handling major problems that may arise; and as part of senior management, participating in long term planning. Work with managers to ensure products are accurately designed and implemented in accordance with the goals of the organization. Responsible for the quality of products and create systems that ensure they meet necessary standards.

Craft an engineering platform/framework using first principles that can be used to guide architecture decisions, underlying technology platform choices (languages, tools, cloud partners, etc), and ensure that resources are in place to promote that platform/framework within the desired Product Portfolio roadmap criteria. Partner with PLM, PMO, and Legal teams to ensure that the architecture and technologies used are well-aligned with the needs of the customers as well as being efficiently supported, secure, and compliant. Transform efficiency, alignment, and reuse via process and tools improvement at scale to reduce development time/cycles and eliminate communications inefficiencies across Home Networks groups. Specifically ensure that all requirements, epics, and product/sprint plans, and progress dashboards are generated with a minimum of human manipulation and delay required. Establish consistent practices and quality measures throughout the portfolio to deliver the highest levels of quality, performance, scalability, and reliability. Orchestrate the creation of and adherence to the monthly, quarterly and annual budgets that accurately reflects headcount and cash requirements to support the SW Engineering Departments globally, including all employee, consulting, vendor, equipment cost, travel, and entertainment and subcontractor resource allocations down to the project/initiative level. Conduct monthly or ad-hoc reviews to ensure that efforts are conforming to budgeted amounts and escalate discrepancies to ELT levels when appropriate. Act as an evangelist in the broader engineering community to ensure long-term recruitment and retention of top talent. Reorganize people, teams, and technology to deliver on short- and long-term roadmaps and objectives developed by Product Management, Product Design, and other business partners. Be able to scale the team in accordance with the needs of the business as well as leverage outsourcing when and where appropriate to maximize investment within the financial constraints of the organization.

Accelerate deep inspection of plans and actions to ensure SMART goal making, adherence to timelines and committed ship dates, and that escalations occur quickly when issues are encountered. Work across disparate groups and skillsets within SW Engineering to ensure this inspection and escalation is built into the foundation of the team culture as well as processes. Assess and integrate 3rd party strategic partnerships and future acquisitions into the overall technology strategy. Partner with the hardware team to develop seamlessly integrated hardware-software experiences. Ensure product quality through vigorous pre-production testing and manufacturing quality assurance standards. Coordinate work across internal engineering and external partners to scope, plan, and execute product development within budget and timeline goals. Ensure adoption of product design and engineering best practices to create compelling, cost-optimized products. Support sales activities through participation in tradeshows and presentations to key customers.

Required Qualifications for Consideration

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 15+ yrs of progressive leadership experience, leading senior leaders in multiple engineering disciplines.
  • 3+ years experience in managing global engineering teams.
  • Strong experience in implementing both Cloud/SaaS Solutions & On-Premise Solutions, including operational production responsibility for SaaS products.
