How You'll help us connect the world:

 

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of Production Engineering & Cloud Operations to lead our DevOps, CloudOps, and Production Tooling teams. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to design and implement cutting-edge, scalable solutions that foster innovation, enhance reliability, and drive impactful results.

 

This hybrid role offers—work from home and spend 3 days a week collaborating at our Sunnyvale, CA office.

Requirements:

  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and management of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) production infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Develop strategies to scale cloud operations, focusing on automation, self-healing systems, and AI-driven solutions to reduce manual intervention.
  • Champion DevOps, DevSecOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, promoting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes to automate and streamline infrastructure management.
  • Drive innovation in CloudOps by implementing auto-healing mechanisms and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring operational resilience and continuous service availability.
  • Establish and maintain an effective incident management process, providing 24/7 support and a rapid response to infrastructure issues. Ensure clear communication between external customers and internal teams during incidents to maintain transparency and satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks through the use of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Thanos, and Google Cloud Operations Suite, ensuring a forward-looking approach to infrastructure management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, CI/CD, security, and business teams to align cloud operations with company goals and enhance performance.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure that SLAs are met and contractual commitments are fulfilled.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of CloudOps and DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in DevOps, CloudOps, and emerging technologies, constantly evaluating and adopting new tools and best practices to keep the team and platform competitive.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud operations, production engineering, or related roles, including 5+ years in leadership positions managing large-scale, multi-tenant cloud environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud providers (AWS, Azure), with strong knowledge of cloud networking, cloud-native services, and cloud security.
  • Proven experience with Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins and ArgoCD, with expertise in container orchestration and management.
  • Successful track record in implementing DevSecOps frameworks and managing projects requiring regulatory compliance (e.g., SOC2, FedRAMP, ISO27001, NIST).
  • Strong background in monitoring tools such as Google Cloud Operations Suite, Prometheus, and ELK Stack, along with experience in distributed tracing technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships, especially with cloud providers and security vendors.
  • Proven ability to manage high-level escalations, ensuring swift resolution while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. Certifications such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect or CISSP are highly valued.
  • Extensive experience with cloud cost management, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Track record of implementing operational solutions that enhance customer satisfaction (CSAT) through proactive monitoring and resolution.
  • Expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, particularly in managing large-scale, mission-critical systems.
  • Experience managing hybrid cloud and hardware environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with chaos engineering practices and system stress-testing is a plus.

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. This position's expected total compensation (base salary and commission range) is $182,200.00 -$250,000.00


The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
