How You'll help us connect the world:
The Wireless System Performance (WSP) team focuses on innovation and emerging wireless standards. We are part of the engineering team that delivers the best performing wireless and networking systems. The WSP Team is a highly cross-functional systems performance team that interfaces with QA, Firmware, Hardware, Product Line Management, Data Science, Escalation, and Protocol teams. We are open to any flexible engineers who have worked in multiple of these roles and can comfortably straddle these boundaries. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about both sharing their knowledge across other teams and ongoing learning from those teams. The candidate should have an R&D mindset, e.g., able to quickly design a trial to prove or disprove a proposed idea. The candidate needs to be able to take the most promising innovation ideas and work with all the other teams within Ruckus to see the idea to implementation and general release. A candidate with recent embedded software engineering experience in wireless/networking systems would be ideal.
You’ll Make an Impact By:
- Developing innovations that deliver value for their complexity.
- Leading those innovations through Proof of Concept, Development, Testing, and Deployment phases.
- Staying on the cutting edge of innovations in the wireless, networking, big data, and AI spaces and communicating that expertise outward to other teams.
- Driving technical engagements with external partners that lead to better and/or more reliable network performance.
- Leading other teams through root cause debugging and analysis of complex performance bugs.
- Being part of the customer-facing engineering team to support the sales efforts in public seminars and events, customer engagements, and critical issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s in computer science or other STEM discipline +7 years industry experience or
- PhD in Computer Science or other STEM discipline +5 years industry experience
- 4+ years of experience in wireless / networking systems
- Strong experience in scripting languages like Python
- Experience with R&D teams and proof-of-concept feature development
- Exceptions can be made for the right candidate
You'll excite us if you have any of the following:
- Experience in programming for embedded Linux systems
- Exposure to wireless AP platforms
- Exposure to chip vendor firmware/target SDK
- Demonstrated experience and exposure with the IEEE 802.11 standards and protocol stack.
- Proven experience in and/or a theoretical background in wireless networks and protocols, communication theory and RF propagation.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and AI/ML techniques
