Title:  Principal RF Design Engineer

How You'll help us connect the world:

 

As a member of the Ruckus Wireless engineering team, you will be responsible for system- and board-level design of RF subcircuits based on various wireless industry standards.  You will work closely with the broader Engineering team, consisting of Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineers.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Accountable for RF aspects of 802.11 wireless Access Point and other wireless products with RF circuits up to 8GHz.
  • Select components, including power amplifiers, LNAs, filters and discrete components.  Work with purchasing to consider pricing.
  • Work with software team to optimize radio configuration.
  • Simulate critical circuit performance.
  • Schematic capture of RF portion of design.
  • Supervision of board layout.
  • Board bring-up, tuning and testing.
  • Full characterization of design.  Create and publish full Design Verification Test (DVT) report. 
  • Work with Compliance Engineer to guide product through regulatory testing at external labs.
  • Work with Operations to develop manufacturing test plan.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field
  • At least 10 years experience in RF design.
  • Solid understanding of RF electronics fundamentals. Ability to design, test and debug RF sub circuits. 
  • Extensive experience with phase locked loops (PLL), low noise amplifiers (LNA), power amplifiers (PA), antennas and other communication circuitry.
  • Experience with RF lab equipment, including spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, oscilloscope, power meter, etc.
  • Familiarity with RF simulation tools.
  • Ability to debug system-level noise issues.
  • Ability to write and execute test plans.
  • Experience with WiFi required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Start-up attitude is essential.

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance.

 

The expected salary range for this position :  $153,800.00 - $200,200.00

 

The Candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including, medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
