Process Engineer III

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer III to lead and support process development initiatives in fiber optic manufacturing. This role is critical to advancing our capabilities in optical fiber production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in, fiber optics process, and a proven track record of driving process improvements from concept to implementation.

 

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Optimization

  • Lead the development and refinement of manufacturing processes for fiber optic connectors. which include polishing, connectorization and data analysis
  • Design and execute experiments to test new materials, automation tools, and process parameters.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), Quality, and manufacturing teams to scale lab processes to production environments. Process evaluation will lead the integration of new process and technology with automation integration.

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Apply statistical tools and methodologies (e.g., DOE, Minitab, JMP) to support decision-making.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation such as Statements of Work (SOWs), work instructions, and control plans.

Technology Transfer & Equipment Qualification

  • Support the transfer of new technologies and the qualification of new equipment and processes into production.

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in technical problem-solving and best practices.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Optical) or related field; master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in fiber optics or related high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, materials behavior, and process control.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and DOE methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with fiber optic connectors, polishing, and optical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of automation and data acquisition systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement training.

Working Conditions

  • Global travel to manufacturing sites and vendors.
  • Hands-on work in lab and production environments.
  • May require extended hours during critical development phases.

 

 

The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, 10 days paid vacation (prorated based on start date), and other leave options. Compensation $86,000-$110,000 annually.
