During the final rotational assignment, participants will receive assistance applying for open positions at CommScope which meet their career goals.

How You’ll Help Us Connect the World

As a Mechanical Automation Engineer GRP, you will be responsible for designing the future of manufacturing as part of the Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS) business. You will work closely with manufacturing sites to design semi-automated manufacturing equipment.

 

This role will be based in Shakopee, Minnesota.

You Will Make an Impact By

  • Working with a highly collaborative and creative team to design the future of manufacturing automation at CommScope
  • Producing creative concepts for mechanical designs to improve quality, cycle time, and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Developing, building, and testing semi-automated equipment/processes for fiber optic cable and assembly manufacturing
  • Creating complete documentation packages for equipment including assembly & part drawings for manufacturing

Required Qualifications for Consideration

  • 0-2 years of experience with a degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
  • Experience in mechanical design of tooling or fixtures that enables ease of manufacturability and assembly
  • Possess excellent mechanical competence with the ability to read and understand 2D prints
  • Capable of analyzing data using Excel or Minitab to assess processes performance during machine development
  • Must be able to travel to global production locations to support development and deployment
  • Must be geographically mobile, locations vary based on businesses, and the participant may be required to relocate for rotations (relocation assistance provided)
  • Proven strong academic performer with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship

You Will Excite Us If You

  • Experience designing and building electromechanical assemblies (Baja team, robotics club, Arduino projects, etc.)
  • Ability to perform tolerance analysis for mechanical assemblies
  • Strong Computer Skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Ability to design and program PLCs, robotics, or vision systems
  • Have hands-on machining and assembly experience
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Show innovation through unique ideas and propose them to the team
  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and effectively meet deadlines
  • Strategic and creative thinking; distinguished written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong initiative; a self-starter with analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and flexible to changing priorities
