Title:  Legal Assistant

As a Legal Assistant in our Shakopee, MN office you will enhance the effectiveness of the IP group within the Legal Department worldwide by providing information and management support to the IP team, others within the Legal Department, and various business teams within the company.


 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support R&D function by creating and distributing IP reports to business.
  • Prepare legal documents, general correspondence and special reports. Summarize, format, edit, retrieve, copy and/or transmit text, data and graphics. Draft documents, prepare presentations, analyze and collect information, and coordinate requests for signature of company officers.
  • Assist in management of third party IP matters by serving as liaison for business and vendor providing legal services.
  • Support and monitor ongoing IP prosecution and legal billing; coordinate access and liaise with law firms as appropriate; promptly review incoming invoices.
  • Support assigned attorneys and other members of the legal department by screening incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments and meetings, making travel arrangements and preparing expense reports as needed.
  • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned for the IP group.
  • Maintain office duties as needed (i.e. mail, telephone, email, filings).


 Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2 year Associate degree  
  • Ability to read and understand legal documents.
  • Ability to take independent action and to organize and prioritize numerous tasks
  • Proficiency in standard business software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn complex software programs  
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years' legal assistance experience in a law firm or corporate environment  
  • Bachelor degree
  • Notary Public commission in Minnesota
