3PL Distribution Manager

The Logistics Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the distribution center, where warehouse operations are outsourced to a third-party logistics (3PL) provider. This role ensures that all logistics activities align with company goals and customer requirements, maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence. The Logistics Distribution manager will also be responsible for coordinating facility maintenance through a third-party facilities management contractor. This is an on-site role (Monday-Friday) at our Santa Teresa, NM facility.
How You Will Help Us Connect to the World
3PL Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the 3PL provider.
- Compliance to existing contracts and agreed way of working with 3PL (Warehouse, transport, customs) by KPI and structured business reviews.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the 3PL against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Conduct regular meetings with the 3PL to review performance, address issues, and implement improvements.
- Adherence to CommScope’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize logistics processes.
- Ensure 3PL compliance with CommScope’s cycle count policy, including inventory adjustments and disposition approvals.
- Maintain 3PL business continuity through appropriate onboarding and offboarding of 3PL contractors.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track and analyze key performance metrics such as order fulfillment, quality, order accuracy, and on-time delivery.
- Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline logistics operations.
Key Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with customer service teams and other key stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment and escalations.
- Address and resolve any logistics-related customer issues or complaints promptly.
Support & Implement New Service Capabilities:
- Participate in ad hoc programs to understand requirements for new customer programs that require changes to standard distribution processes.
- Develop processes, tools, and system changes to enable the execution of new service capabilities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to implement innovative solutions.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the distribution center budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
- Validate monthly invoices for 3PL and facility contractors.
Reporting & Communications:
- Primary site point of contact for CommScope’s business continuity team during a business continuity event.
- Conduct weekly and monthly reporting to senior management to review site performance.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- 7+ years of work experience in distribution management, operations, and logistics, preferably with experience managing 3PL relationships.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong project management skills to oversee logistics projects and initiatives.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as: WMS, SAP TMS, and reporting tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
