General Summary

 

The fiber assembler performs manual labor along a production line. Fiber optic assemblers specialize in cutting, stripping, and terminating fiber optic cables with several different connectors. A fiber assembler must have an aptitude for mechanics and an eye for detail. Their function is to ensure that all parts and products under their care are in proper working order and meet the quality standards of the company.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

 

  • Use tools to make or repair parts and products.
  • Follow Fiber Supervisor’s and assigned production lead’s instructions on a day-to-day basis.
  • Prepare and apply epoxy to fiber optic connectors.
  • Operate technical equipment in a lab setting
  • Terminate ends of the cable with connectors.
  • Assist in Testing cables prior to shipment.
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
  • Interpret customer drawings and assemble them per customer’s specifications.
  • When needed assist in packaging and labeling material.
  • Work with other members of the line or group to assemble products.
  • Keep a clean and tidy workspace.
  • Follow all company-wide rules and regulations to ensure your safety and the safety of your coworkers
  • Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.
  • Ability to use reason to solve problems as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned
