Systems Engineer (Video Systems)


Responsible for defining system, network, Video, and cloud based architectures, collaborating with key customer technical leads, developing system level and product level technical requirements, developing protocols and API’s for system and product communications, defining system level test strategies, creating system level documentation, collaborating with product management, development, test, and support organizations, developing tools for and participating in system integration, participating in system deployments and field trials of new features and technologies, and supporting fielded Commercial Satellite, Cable Broadcast, and IP Video Distribution systems.

Technical skills required include Networking expertise in local, wide, and distributed IP networks, public and private networks, cloud-based networks, Video Networks, and cloud-based software architecture.

In this role you will work with a variety of technologies including Digital TV, Satellite RF broadcast, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, HEVC, DASH, HLS, SDI, Ethernet, IP Networks, and many other associated technologies.  You will work on systems and products that we design and deliver, creating end to end systems that provide Digital Broadcast Video to Cable networks.  As a systems engineer you will be involved with end-to-end system architecture and requirements development and support of satellite broadcast video distribution equipment.

You will need to collaboratively with cross functional teams to develop system architectures, API’s, product features, system requirements, product technical requirements, and requirements verifications strategies.

Must have experience defining and documenting system and product level requirements of complex software, IP networks, or embedded systems.  You will be responsible for system level fault isolation and resolution including support of internal test teams as well as customers.

We are looking for an individual that is engaged through the entire project life-cycle, participates in cross functional team discussions, customer meetings, challenges assumptions, provide new ideas, and contributes to the overall success of our business.  This individual is expected to maintain responsibility for product features and requirements throughout the product lifecycle including development of technical requirements, participating in systems integration, initial product launches, and field issue investigations for issues escalated to systems.


Basic Qualifications:


  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of systems engineering or system / network architect experience
  • Systems design or system architect and product requirement development experience required.
  • IP Network knowledge and experience required.
  • Experience with requirements management tools preferred.
  • Network design / architect skills preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Any Video compression, MPEG, MPEG2 Transport, Media or RF Transmission experience is a significant plus
  • Cloud design or architect background is a plus.
  • Software architecture or design experience is a plus.
  • Software skills (C++/C, Java) is a significant plus.
  • XML knowledge is a plus.
