Title:  Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a senior Mechanical Design Engineer in our Saltaire site. Responsibilities in this role include:

To design and update custom mechanical components and systems, producing completed drawings and related documentation ensuring that they meet specifications in-line with Department Guidelines, Development Process and Quality Procedures.



-    Produce high quality mechanical designs to given standards ensuring Department/Project timescales are met, in collaboration with Industrial, PCB and Hardware teams.
-    Ensure the mechanical components fulfil required technical specifications. This will require good communication with all relevant Departments, Manufacturing, or any relevant third party
-    Ensure any reported problems/queries from sources, both internal and external of the company, relating to mechanical components are addressed to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where required
-    Participate in and contribute to formal Design and Project Reviews, which may require international travel to customer/supplier locations  
-    Assist in mentoring and developing other Mechanical Design team members
-    Collaboration with off-shore mechanical support engineering resource to achieve time-to-market targets




-    HNC in Mechanical Design and Engineering.
-    Experience in Mechanical Design and Engineering within a volume electronic manufacturing environment
-    Appreciation of electronic design constraints, including PCB design & manufacture 
-    Good working experience of Pro-Engineer design tools.
-    Good working knowledge of standard office computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat.


Desirable (not essential)

-    Excellent knowledge & understanding of sheet metal and injection moulding manufacturing processes
-    Understanding of thermal management (passive & active) within an electronic enclosure
-    Experience of Thermal Simulation tools, providing architectural guidance to wider HW Group
-    Knowledge and experience of tolerance stack-up analysis tools and techniques 
-    Familiar with FMEA process 
-    Experience of using PLM systems for BoM management and component lifecycles
-    Exposure to plastic injection Moldflow analysis tools
