Req ID:  81977
Location:

Richardson, Texas, United States

Transportation: Financial Analyst (Global Transportation)

Role Description

The Freight Financial Analyst role will support the Global Transportation organization reporting to the Freight Audit and Analytics Manager by owning freight financial analytics, cost transparency, and decision support across all transportation modes (Air, Ocean, Ground, and Small Parcel). This role is accountable for translating large volumes of freight, invoice, and operational data into actionable financial insights that improve cost control, forecasting accuracy, and executive decision-making.

This position is designed to close current analytical gaps across freight spend reporting, budget variance analysis, source-of-change (SOC) analytics, data integrity remediation, and executive-level storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end freight spend analysis across inbound and outbound transportation, including Air, Ocean, Ground (TL/LTL), and Small Parcel.
  • Develop and maintain freight cost as % of revenue, budget vs. actuals, forecast variance, and YoY source-of-change (SOC) analyses used in executive reviews and monthly cadences.
  • Partner with Finance (EPBCS / FP&A) to reconcile freight forecasts with revenue projections and identify disconnects early in the planning cycle.
  • Quantify financial impact of network changes, mode shifts, carrier changes, surcharges, disruptions, and compliance-related costs (e.g., bonded freight, fuel and war-risk surcharges).
  • Quantify savings, cost avoidance, and ROI from transportation initiatives and network optimizations
  • Build and standardize monthly freight packages and executive summaries for Data Center, Broadband, and Enterprise segments, ensuring consistency, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Translate complex data into concise, executive-ready insights highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Identify, quantify, and help remediate data-quality gaps across freight audit, carrier invoicing, and ERP data.
  • Partner with Freight Audit, IT, and external platforms (FDW, TRAX, carrier feeds) to improve data timeliness, consistency, and usability for analytics.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience in freight finance, supply chain analytics, or FP&A, with demonstrated ownership of spend analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience analyzing multi-modal freight spend (Air, Ocean, Ground, Small Parcel) in a global environment preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including variance analysis, forecasting, YoY SOC analysis, and cost-driver modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, financial models); experience with Power BI or similar BI tools strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP and transportation data sources (SAP, TM, freight audit platforms).
  • Ability to synthesize large, imperfect datasets into clear and defensible insights.

Mindset & Behaviors

  • Detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating in ambiguity where data is incomplete or evolving.
  • Business-minded analyst who focuses on insight and action, not just reporting.
  • Comfortable working across regions, cultures, and time zones in a global operating model.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Business Analytics, Data Science or related field).
  • MBA or advanced analytical certification is a plus.
