We are currently inviting applications for the role of Quality Technician to join our team at CommScope. This role will enable the right candidate the opportunity to develop their career as a quality professional while contributing to the long-term success of our business.


Duties & responsibilities:

The role is compliance orientated and requires an excellent understanding of both processes and products.

The required standards and behaviours will be personally demonstrated to the operations teams.

The product and process knowledge acquired will need to be maintained and shared – influencing the operations teams and encouraging their escalation of issues.

  • Make decisions regarding non-conforming materials, escalating where needed. Offer root cause analyses, define corrective actions and follow-up on progresses. Understanding of how different types of analysis may or may not be suited to the circumstances and having confidence to engage team members where necessary.
  • Provide functional support to the operations teams. Scrap reduction through improved quality is an objective of the role. Work with quality and other teams to develop actions that improve overall factory performance.
  • Create reports that describe process and product quality. Contribute to the analysis of the data and the identification of critical-to-quality factors.
  • New Product introduction - active assessment and analysis of risk and the ability to influence program team members and partners.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement teams, relative to corporate quality goals.
  • Operate both within teams and independently to ensure the successful implementation of improvements.


Skills & experience:

Certificate or diploma level technical qualification required - quality, manufacturing or process related.

  • Manufacturing process and factory experience required (experience in fault finding, mechanical assembly, calibrated hand-tools/machines an advantage).
  • Problem solving skills – experience of root cause analysis. An understanding of structured analyses is required, as is an awareness of the weaknesses associated with these techniques.
  • Ability to create reports that provide a high-level summary, capturing the required level of detail and offering fact-based objective conclusions.
  • New Product Introduction experience.
  • Must be detail orientated for conducting investigations, creating and maintaining reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar system.
  • Proficient computer skills.

The role requires good interpersonal skills, an ability to generate and implement actions in collaboration with various manufacturing, engineering and operations teams. The role will support the operations teams’ ownership of their autonomous actions.
