Title:  Engineering Manager

We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team. 

 

General Summary:

 

Co-ordinates UK New product development team members in day to day activities. Fully competent in the subject matter or functional areas of assignment.  Employs a broad application of principles, theories and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other fields.  Sufficiently understands customer requirements and delivers results that meet customer needs.

 

Provides innovative resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):

 

  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

 

  • Responsible for the overall mechanical structural design of new and existing Antenna and Microwave components.

 

  • Meeting project cost and development timelines.

 

  • Demonstrates an innovative, dynamic hands on approach to problem solving and be able to designs through product qualification to manufacture.

 

  • Provide technical support for new products to our Production, Quality and Product Line departments.

 

  • Acting as a key member/ technical leader across UK project teams with responsibility for coordinating the work of drafters, technicians and other personnel.

 

  • Global travel to provide technical support to our production, vendor and customer base.

 

  • Devises new approaches to problems.

 

  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.

 

  • Applies research to planning, design and development of mechanical systems, instruments and/or controls.

 

  • Conducts feasibility studies and tests new modified designs.

 

  • May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.

 

  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions;

 

  • Work is reviewed at appropriate milestones to ensure that overall objectives are being met;

 

  • Receives technical guidance on complex problems and supervisory approval for projects.

 

    • Work significantly impacts achievement of business unit goals.

 

    • Has demonstrated track record of successfully completed assignments. 

 

    • Represents the business unit on all projects.

 

    • Is capable and willing to have effective customer, operations and supplier interactions and/or frequent inter-organization contacts.

 

    • Support Manufacturing to solve production issues and support production improvement projects.

 

    • Where applicable, please refer to the Company’s “Schedule of Authority” in order to identify approved spending levels

Job Specifications:

 

  • BS in mechanical engineering or related technical degree; actively pursuing an advanced degree;

 

  • Work experience involving the use of Mechanical Engineering principles and practices, as well as knowledge of typical manufacturing processes;

 

  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modelling and assemblies or equivalent 3D packages and SAP preferred

 

  • Good understanding of a range of modern manufacturing techniques including die casting, sheet metal fabrications, injection moulding and machining

 

  • Good working knowledge of DFM, FMEA, FEA and geometric tolerancing.

 

  • Must possess good oral/written communication skills;

 

Requires the ability to regularly contact, influence and negotiate with both internal and external individuals on complex issues; and must be able to respond to inquiries and complaints with tact and diplomacy.
