Title:  Instructional Designer


As an Instructional Designer you use the latest tools and design concepts to develop innovative learning solutions using instructional design methodologies. Primary responsibilities are to design and develop or redesign instructional content for web-based, self-paced, instructor-led, or virtual instructor-led delivery of training solutions to engage learners and support the CommScope vision to truly partner with our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop instructionally sound learning solutions that effectively convey critical knowledge about broadband product solutions to diverse audiences, including customers, channel partners, and employees.

  • Conduct needs assessment and perform task/content analysis to establish effective learning objectives and evaluation strategies.

  • Collaborate with Product Line Management, Product Development, Technical Trainers, and Technical Support teams on the design and development of innovative training solutions.

  • Produce blended learning programs, including self-placed, web-based, virtual and classroom-based learning. Deliverables may include student guides, facilitators’ guides, job aids, and content for self-study courses (video/web based)

  • Ability to manage project deliverables and deadlines, communicate clearly about projects, and strong organizational skills are essential

  • Manage projects with changing requirements and changing timelines while delivering first- rate learning solutions

  • Innovate and keep current on learning technologies and learning best practices

  • Collaborate with other instructional designers and technical trainers to leverage product

    knowledge and effectively design learning solutions.

  • Maintain accuracy of content by conducting content reviews and completing any changes or

    updates as needed

  • Promote course offerings and related training initiatives using internal and external social

    media tools Skills

  • Demonstrated skills in developing instructor-led and online training using Instructional Design principles

  • Solid knowledge of course development software such as Storyline, Articulate, Captivate, Photoshop, and/or other similar development tools and experience with at least one Learning Management System

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills that are audience appropriate applying the style and delivery necessary to impact the audience

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills

  • Knowledge of distance learning tools, virtual classroom platforms, and learning

    management systems

  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and changes in direction

  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills combined with technical aptitude

  • Problem-solving initiative and eagerness to take on projects and support team goals.

  • Work well in a collaborative setting but also be confident enough to take full ownership of

    learning content and work well independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow defined processes and procedures to achieve results

  • Evaluation skills to determine effectiveness of training and make recommendations on

    course and curriculum edits to improve training materials, testing, and delivery methods.

  • Graphics/design capability

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning Theory or similar degree program

  • Certifications in education/training preferred

  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to share ideas and collaborate

  • Strong technical aptitude and interest - experience with DOCSIS, CMTS, IPTV or video

    delivery a plus.

  • Ability to work on fast-paced deliverables as well as complete longer, complex projects

  • Two to five years of experience in instructional design, course development, or related field
