Title:  Materials Assistant

How You’ll Help Us Connect The World

The Materials Assistant will provide support and assistance to a Sr. Principal Materials Engineer responsible for polymeric materials used in Telecommunications products (Broadband Network Connectivity) and working in an international environment.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Assist with loading new raw materials into SAP systems, create standard product specifications based on the inputs received
  • Prepare and collect data in excel format to support statistical analysis; evolve later into performing such analysis independently.
  • Coordinate tests with new raw materials from start to end, both internally and at external parties (in collaboration with molding engineers and suppliers)
  • Build test requests in the Laboratory Information System
  • Document working methodologies
  • Create technical summaries in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Perform a diverse range of shorter and longer supporting tasks, with gradual increase in responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Scientific educational background with (ideally) a Bachelors’ degree; interest in or affinity with polymeric materials is a plus.

  • Proficient Computer skills in MS-Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions or detailed written procedures accurately and in detail
  • A desire to be in a supporting role with mentorship from the Materials Engineer
  • Ability to easily master a diversity of software programs, pull data from systems, and generate summary documents
  • Scientific educational background with an interest in polymeric materials
  • Multilingual with fluent Dutch and English skills (both spoken/written)
  • Industrial or laboratory experience
  • The ability to work independently
  • Can cope with sense of urgency, without losing sense for detail and quality
  • Good communication and time management skills
