CommScope is looking to add a Staff Materials Engineer to join our team in Bermudez Plant in Juarez Chih., Mex.

 

How You'll Help Us Connect the World

We are seeking a Staff Materials Engineer to support global R&D product development through materials testing, qualification and characterization analysis.

The successful candidate will develop and execute test plans for metallic, plastic and finished-product components. Evaluate material performance, investigate failures, and provide engineering recommendations to cross-functional teams.

 

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related engineering field.
  • 2 or more years of materials laboratory, product-testing or characterization experience.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical and polymer principles, material properties and testing standards.
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (+80%).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy
  • SEM, DSC, TGA, FTIR and other materials characterization techniques.
  • Corrosion, chemical and accelerated-aging testing.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory quality systems.
  • Laboratory chemical-safety procedures.
  • Manufacturing-process development support

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct materials and product-performance testing.
  • Perform materials characterization analysis.
  • Investigate failures in metallic and plastic materials and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate aging, degradation and long-term material performance.
  • Support material selection, specification, qualification and validation.
  • Analyze test results and prepare clear engineering reports.
  • Provide technical directions to laboratory technicians.
  • Maintain, calibrate and certify materials characterization equipment.
  • Communicate test progress, risks and findings.
  • Follow EH&S, laboratory safety and quality-system requirements.
