How You'll Help Us Connect the World
R&D Product Development Engineer is accountable to Engineering Management in support of the business unit growth objectives.
This position/function must be responsible to understand and follow the requirements of the Safety, Health and Environment administration system, its Policy and the applicable standards and procedures.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to support new product development. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Project team: Participate in product development and cost reduction team efforts. Document of product requirements based on industry standards.
Create designs of new components and assemblies. Document to support the release of new and modified products. Support the optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic products. Work with Manufacturing on process development and introductions of new products into Manufacturing.
Perform data analysis and evaluation. Project Manage activities assigned on projects of a small size; Perform failure analysis. Write test reports documenting the results of testing. Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards. Generate Record of Inventions for innovations and pursue intellectual property protection.
Department: Develop awareness of corporate, business unit and quality management system documentation. Awareness of relevant industry standards for products; range of lab test equipment. Knowledge of fiber optic products and technical principals.
Develop knowledge of engineering tools such as LEAN and/or 6-sigma, DMAIC or other improvement process, DOE, FMEA, MSA, uncertainty.
Position has growth potential per engineering technical ladder with six additional engineering titles each with growing responsibilities; Collaboration with current staff which includes other specialists and technicians in team.
Required Qualifications for Consideration
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
0-2 years of engineering experience.
Bilingual English & Spanish, Validated interpersonal skills including excellent writing skills.
Strong digital literacy Shown knowledge and skilled user of MS Office.
Skilled at planning and ability to pay attention to details.
Ability to optimally work within a team environment.
Understanding of design for manufacturing.
Validated knowledge of Product Development Process
Proven knowledge and skilled user of 3D CAD software.
You Will Excite Us If You Have
Experience with design/test of connectors and cable assemblies used in Enterprise and Carrier markets per international and Domestic standards (TIA-EIA-568B, GR-326, etc).
CREO/CAD experience
Solid knowledge and skilled user of SAP
Programming experience with Visual Basic and LabVIEW.
