Title:  Payroll Benefits Accountant

Due to growth and demand, we are currently recruiting for a Payroll Benefits Accountant to join our team in Joliet, IL.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts.  Reviews, balances, and resolves discrepancies surrounding payroll journal entries.  Provide day to day support to the payroll and benefits department.  Participate in special projects as assigned.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepares journal entries, accruals, account reclassifications and account reconciliations.
  • Interprets company policy to ensure that all accounts are accurately reconciled on a timely basis. Including identification and prompt resolution of outstanding reconciling items.
  • Reconcile payroll totals for Treasury funding and maintain payroll clearing account entries on a per payroll basis.
  • Provide payroll tax support; identify, log and track progress of resolving items
  • Reporting, reconciliation, and analysis of benefit accounts such as Flex Spending, 401k and other benefit accounts as assigned.
  • Special projects as needed.
  • Interact with internal customers in CommScope's organization.
  • Provide documentation to internal and external auditors as required.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree required with 0-2 years of related experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly analytical, self-motivated, self-starter, with the ability and desire to manage assigned workload
  • Ability to prioritize and independently manage assigned workload and projects
  • A team player with desire to contribute to the success of the Payroll team
  • Must have a strong commitment to continually preserving the integrity and security of employee data
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge or familiarity with SAP or other accounting software is a plus
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, methods and techniques including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
