Title:  Pre-Sales Engineer

How You’ll Help Us Connect The World

The Systems (Pre-Sales) Engineer provides technical direction for pre- and/or post-sales support to the sales teams, business partners, and end-users. Responsible for ensuring that account managers (AMs), consultants, and end-users are updated with the latest technical information, with special emphasis on key company solution differentiators. Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide technical direction for pre- and/or post-sales technical staff and support activities to develop customer solutions. Serve as a liaison with customers to accept and implement the process.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to provide pre- and/or post-sales application engineering support in order to provide additional value the customers.
  • Support the roll out of new products with external presentations focused on the technical differentiation aspects of the product and value proposition.
  • Build, enhance, and deliver solutions presentations for end-user customers and consultants geared toward improving sales of CommScope’s product lines through discussions of current systems technologies.
  • Provide engineering support to regional/global customer base and inside/outside sales personnel by answering technical questions concerning cable performance, applications, and electrical/mechanical characteristics.
  • Provide feedback to product engineering on current market trends and design features. Work closely with engineering, sales and marketing for the design and development of new products with particular focus around application support.
  • Support sales and marketing with any media activities. This may include writing articles for publications, assisting with advertising or preparing technical documentation such as design guides.
  • Participate in bid response support to customers.


You will excite us if you have:

  • Bachelor/Masters Degree in Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer or proven experience
  • Good understanding of LAN/WAN systems and physical media requirements, including wireless applications.
  • Possess current industry technical certification (preferred) (ATD, BICSI RCDD, BICSI DCDC, Systimax Solutions)
  • Structured cabling system design experience
  • Working knowledge of Data Center functional areas (MDA, HDA, EDA, ZDA, EF) and familiar with data center industry trends
  • Ability to influence, train, and mentor channel partners and system integration partners
  • Ability to build and deliver sales and training presentations with confidence and customer-facing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and manage relationships
