Position Title: Application Developer, SAP (ABAP)
Job Location: Hyderabad
Role Overview / General Summary
Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining SAP S/4HANA solutions with a strong focus on ABAP and RICEFW objects. The role requires close collaboration with business and functional teams to deliver high-quality enhancements, interfaces, forms, and conversions with robust error handling and performance optimization.
Focus areas include advanced ABAP (RAP, CDS, AMDP), OData services, Fiori, ALE/IDoc configuration and monitoring, and upgrade activities (SPAU/SPDD). Coverage across SAP modules such as Sales & Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Human Resources (HR), Financial Accounting & Controlling (FI/CO), Environment Health & Safety (EHSN), Ariba, Integrated Business Planning (IBP), and Master Data Governance (MDG).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain RICEFW objects on S/4HANA 2023.
- Perform SPAU/SPDD adjustments during upgrades and ensure retrofit compliance.
- Develop Reports (ALV/OO ALV), Interfaces (inbound/outbound), Conversions (BDC/BAPI/LSMW), Enhancements (User Exits/BADIs/Enhancement Points), and Forms (SAPscript, Smart Forms, Adobe).
- Implement Dialog Programming and Workflow, and leverage modern ABAP including RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, and OData services.
- Configure and manage ALE/IDoc processes: partner profiles, distribution models, process codes, IDoc type extensions; monitor and reprocess IDocs.
- Develop labels using ZPL statements and Adobe; ensure print outputs meet business standards.
- Apply strong debugging, error handling, and dump analysis to ensure resilient solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SD, MM, PP, HR, FI/CO, EHSN, Ariba, IBP, MDG) to translate business requirements into technical designs.
Mandatory Skills
- 5+ years of extensive development on RICEFW objects in SAP S/4HANA (2023).
- Strong ABAP expertise and advanced debugging skills.
- Hands-on with SPAU/SPDD for upgrade and retrofit activities.
- Proficiency in BDC/BAPI, Reports, Workflow, Enhancements, Forms, LSMW, and OO-ABAP.
- Experience with error handling and dump analysis.
- Advanced ABAP: RAP, CDS, AMDP, OData, and Fiori development.
- SAP ALE/IDoc expertise: ALE setup, partner profiles, distribution models, process codes; configure IDoc types/extensions; inbound/outbound setup; familiarity with standard IDoc types (ORDERS05, DESADV01, INVOIC02, DELVRY05, MATMAS05); monitoring and reprocessing; custom IDoc interfaces and change pointers.
- Developing labels using ZPL statements and Adobe.
Nice to Have
- OData/Gateway and Fiori application development.
- Exposure to SAP functional areas: SD, MM, PP, HR, FI/CO, EHSN, Ariba, IBP, MDG.
- Experience with data migration tools and techniques (BDC/LSMW/BAPI/IDoc).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5–8 years of progressive ABAP development experience with recent S/4HANA project exposure (2023 release preferred).
- SAP ABAP certification or S/4HANA ABAP for SAP HANA certification is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to interact with global business teams and end users.
