Title:  Strategic Sourcing Specialist, NPI

CommScope is hiring a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, NPI in Richardson, TX or Euless, TX. 



Under general supervision, responsible for carrying out broad assignments involving the sourcing of components and raw materials, requiring extensive or specialized knowledge or experience.  Supports the introduction of new products with the objective of sourcing material at the right cost with the right supply chain from the start of production.   Develops sources of supply where vendors and preferred suppliers are inadequate by leading the Supplier Selection Process in support of NPI.   May provide work leadership and train lower level buyers.



  • Works within NPI cross-functional project team playing a key part in the coordination and delivery of the New Product Development across the company.
  • Sources complex direct materials (e.g. die castings, injection moldings, metal fabrications, PCBAs) with suppliers that can meet the service, quality and cost requirements. Working closely with manufacturing site buyers throughout the sourcing process for new products. 
  • Coordinates with Design Engineering to identify and negotiate cost reduction opportunities on existing and new products, ensuring early DFM feedback from suppliers.
  • Conducts cost / price analysis for all products under their jurisdiction with emphasis on high dollar and sole source procurements.  Establishes negotiation strategies. 
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with supplier base.  Ensures that the Supplier KPI’s governing quality, delivery and NPI performance are considered before deciding to source material from vendors. 
  • Ensures that all sourcing is based on negotiated competitive bids as submitted by qualified suppliers and in alignment with Should Cost targets (where available). 
  • Where applicable, refer to the Company's "Schedule of Authority" in order to identify approved spending levels. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business with 8+ years of relevant experience or an Associates Degree/MCIPS with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of product line under area of procurement.
  • Experience in purchasing technical commodities requiring close interface with engineering. 
  • Experience with ERP
  • Must be organized with the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Well versed in cost / price analysis techniques. 
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen combined with demonstrated negotiation / influencing skills.
  • 5% - 10% travel may be required.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have or is actively securing a certification in the procurement area (i.e. C.P.M. or CPIM).
  • Must have knowledge of all product lines and associated manufacturing processes under area of responsibility. 
  • Has experience of at least five (5) major procurement categories / commodities.
  • ERP Experience (SAP Preferred).
