Title:  Sr Systems Engineer

This Senior Systems Test Engineering job is based in Cork, Ireland. This is very much a hands-on role that includes configuring, managing, and maintaining this equipment; as well as testing new products and new product features. We are always looking for new ways to automate, streamline, and simplify. The CommScope Cork lab includes a wide range of cutting edge equipment - and you will get to work with all of it!  This includes:


  • Windows & Linux Servers 
  • Virtualisation: VMWare, EsXi, KVM
  • Spirent IPv4 & Ipv6 network test equipment - we have almost 2 Terabits/sec  pf test capacity - loads to play with!
  • A variety of switches and routers from leading manufacturers like Cisco, Extreme, Juniper, and Ruckus
  • DOCSIS headends, video servers, RF networks, cable modems, and a TON of test & measurement gear.
  • Fluency in a scripting language, like Python then this could be an extremely interesting & challenging area to work in


This role is a non-stop learning opportunity with a huge variety of work to be done - no 2 days are the same!




  • BS or MS/M.Eng in a relevant field such as Software Engineering, Computer Networking, or Telecommunications. 
  • Must have experience in a systems test role, including test automation development, test planning, and test execution 
  • Must have a track record of learning using your own initiative and will be able to demonstrate core skills in the following areas:
    • Ablility to implement and verify Network configurations in IPv4 and IPv6 environments
    • Ablility to configure, troubleshoot, and manage Linux systems, including virtualization & orchestration platforms (Docker/KVM/Kubernetes)
    • A firm grasp of computer networking concepts including L2/L3, VLANs, IPv4/v6, spanning tree, and routing protocols.
    • Fluency in at least 1 scripting language (Python/Bash/TCL)
