Title:  Manufacturing Operator

Due to increase in customer demand and business growth, CommScope is hiring Manufacturing Operators in Claremont, NC!

How you’ll help us connect the world:
As a Manufacturing Operator, this role is focused on the setup, shut down and change over procedures for equipment. Here, you will be encouraged to take initiative and use problem solving skills to troubleshoot. You will be responsible for filling out reports to provide needed product information to all departments. You will also work closely with Research & Development Engineering team on developing new products and evaluating new raw materials. 

You will perform physical manipulation or movement of product or materials, machine operations, forklift operation or other jobs as needed. You will assist is setting up the extruder machine by setting heat controls, selecting accurate extrusion tools, cooling devices and using the compound and wire supply specified. The operator will also roll and position reels of wire into place within the pay off machine, which requires pushing and pivoting reels. 

Once the pay off machines are loaded, the operator threads the wire through various eyelets and pulleys to the strander where it is combined with other wire to be made into cable. The threading requires fine motor and eye hand manipulation skills and reaching vertically. During the take up portion of the job, the operator removes the reel full of cable, and pushes it into position so that a material handler can transport it to its final destination. Operators also performs quality control checks on wire supply and finished wire to include adhesion, air leaks, correct size, eccentricity, and wall thickness. 

You will receive on the job training from the first day on the job. 

Required Qualifications for Consideration:
•    High School Diploma/GED
•    Read, understand, and follow job instructions 
•    Ability to work 12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM on a 4 days on followed by 4 day off schedule including weekends

•    You have strong mechanical skills
•    2+ years of Machine Operator experience
•    Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
•    Understands quality metrics and tools to perform quality checks

Anticipated salary range dependent on experience and qualifications starts at $19.65 per hour. Overtime paid after 8 hours in a 12-hour shift.
