CommScope is looking for a Senior NPI Engineer in Chelmsford, MA


General Summary

As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of customer field and customer lab deployment of Commscope OneCell product including installation, commissioning support, walk testing, lab testing, Field testing and debugging, staging, etc. This role requires significant travel time to customer sites.


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Perform testing of Onecell eNB product at Commscope lab and at customer labs
  • Support installation and commissioning of OneCell product at customer sites
  • Walk testing, coverage and capacity measurements
  • Support of field issues by travelling to customer sites and reproducing failure cases.
  • Validation the bug fixes in lab and customer sites
  • Staging equipment for customer sites before shipment
  • Verification of settings in case of return of hardware from customer site
  • Preliminary analysis of test logs and providing initial diagnosis of issues
  • Support of Live Air Verification testing at Commscope site
  • Providing daily status and test summaries


Required Skills

  • Bachelors degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience or Masters Degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience. Degree in Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/ Telecommunications highly preferred
  • Clear understanding of wireless technologies, especially LTE
  • Well experienced in testing wireless and cellular products
  • Well experienced in performing tests at customer labs and sites
  • Fluent in using lab equipment (VSG, VSA, etc)
  • Fluent in using debugging and analysis tools such as QXDM, QCAT, XCAL, XCAP, Nemo, etc
  • Knowledge in Networking protocols: TCP, UDP, IP, Ethernet, etc and the ability to configure devices connected to each other in a network
  • Good team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – this is a customer facing role
  • Ability to learn things quickly
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites in US and other countries
  • Travel Requirements: 35% to 40%


Nice to have skiils

  • Experience in testing wireless and cellular products
  • Experience with automation scripts and techniques
