How you'll help us connect the world

In ths role you will be a teammate in a functional tool room participating in the Root Cause Corrective Action process when necessary. Makes intricate tools for producing specific shapes or removing material. Works to extremely close tolerances where construction of tools requires mating surfaces, usually less than .0005 inches. Responsible for planning, laying out and following the job through to completion with a minimum of supervision; completing jobs within general tolerances of metal trades industry in relation to quality and time.

  • Plan, lay out and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc. where a high degree of skill and an extensive knowledge of tooling practice and application is required. Work from complicated drawings and specifications, use a wide variety of precision instruments for exacting measurements.
  • Perform complex machining operations requiring complicated set-ups involving the improvising of tooling and machines for adaptations beyond the normal range and capacities of available equipment.
  •  Perform close and exacting bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble, and finish work.
  • May do development and experimental work, select allowances and materials, and proceed from own conception in the absence of design and specifications.
  • Will assign work and instruct other tool room personnel. May serve as lead on projects, working closely with designers and engineers.
  •  Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes. 

Work Hours and Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (4 days)

 

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience with CAD/CAM type software, preferably Esprit.
  • Experience as a CNC Machinist operating a 3 and 4 axis mill or lathe.
  • Tool and Die experience.
  • Wire and Sinker EDM experience.

 

  • You Will Excite Us If You Have:
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of experience & education.
  • Associate's Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems or related fields
