Title:  Technical Training Specialist

Due to increased product demand, CommScope is hiring a Technical training Specialist for the Catawba, NC Manufacturing Facility.

 

General Summary

Develop, implement, monitor, and update training programs for plant hourly employees to ensure uniform implementation of quality standards, safe operating practices and best manufacturing techniques.  Develop, implement and update plant specific safety training for plant hourly and salaried employees, following State and Federal OSHA regulations, in conjunction with EHS Department.  Maintain training records and evaluate training practices and programs to improve overall training effectiveness and minimize costs. 

 

Duties and Responsibilites

  • Plan and deliver training programs for plant personnel to make the transition from entry-level employees to qualified operators as efficient as possible. Retrain and update experienced personnel as required.
  • Aid in authoring and development of Standard Operating Procedures and other controlled documents for all plant processes.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system to monitor training levels and certifications. Periodically review all certification requirements and update as necessary. Track required re-certifications.
  • Review and standardize all existing training programs. Maintain and update programs to reflect new manufacturing practices, products, equipment, tooling, laws or regulations.
  • Communicate training schedules and timetables to all affected departments. Work with supervisors to identify training needs. Develop action plans to address targeted areas.
  • Track training cost. Maintain expenditures within budget limitations.
  • Assist in the assessment, selection, placement and orientation of hourly employees, and provide support for Teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • May create ID badges and assist with administration of security badge system for facility.
  • Assist in providing an employee information system through posters and other publications by keeping current information available to employees
  • May serve as relief Production Supervisor to provide coverage for vacations, sickness, long-term absences, etc.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager with constant eye toward continuous improvement.
  • Under indirect supervision assures all training and development programs are accomplished according to the Site program. The Training Leader instructs, develops, and organizes product/equipment/process/new hire training for employees to insure the availability of qualified personnel in order to satisfy business conditions and customer expectations.
  • Confer with site manager’s, superintendent’s, supervisor’s and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
  • Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of the Site.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
  • select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
  • Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
  • Assist employees with problems concerning “how to” perform specific tasks related to their position.
  • Make suggestions on improving work procedures at the Site.
  • Maintain trainee personnel records and progression charts per ISO standards.
  • Develop strong relationship with all manufacturing/support departments to develop course materials and receive feedback. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelors Degree in a related curriculum
  • 5 years of experience in identifying the training need, developing the materials ,disseminating the information and delivering training to groups and teams at all levels ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Good Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office suite, ERPs, SharePoint and database
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels within the organization 
  • Ability to work 4 pm to midnight Mon-Friday.
