Title:  Maintenance Technician

CommScope is looking to hire a Maintenance Technician in our Catawba, NC! This role is more technical in nature due to Controls/Automation problem solving and working with a variety of controls equipment. 


How You'll Help Us Connect The World


As a member of the maintenance team, you will perform diversified duties to install, address, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to support the business. You will be essential for maintaining, solving problems, and repairing PLCs, AC/DC drives, and motor and drive controls. The maintenance repairer will also complete general maintenance duties of the equipment and facilities.


More specifically, as a Maintenance Technician, you will: 

  • Troubleshoot and repair machine electro-mechanical malfunctions using appropriate test equipment to analyze problems and correct deficiencies including multimeters, oscilloscopes, laptop computers and PLC interface. Troubleshoot equipment Motor and Drive control Issues.
  • Work effectively with Automation and Instrumentation devices in support of engineering or technicians.
  • Follow all proactive safety measures to include NEC, NFPA and other pertinent safety codes. Ensure safety procedures, such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out are followed.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of production systems including compound system, air compressors and pit water system.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of 3 phase electrical systems, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, VFD and Servo systems
  • Assist in developing, coordinating and managing ongoing in-house training programs.
  • Support the parts department by identifying and maintaining equipment and repair parts.
  • Complete project assignments in a team-based environment with minimal direction. 
  • Repair and maintain InkJet Printers and automated production equipment. Maintain program backups and calibration records for Diameter control systems. Experience with Beta and Zumbach is a plus. 
  • Maintain PM and records for all plant equipment. 
  • Read electrical drawings and schematics.


Required Qualifications

 

  • Electrical certification. 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of PLC experience. Preferred: Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Legacy PLC products, SLCPLC5; Siemens S7 PLC.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven manufacturing experience with PLC's/HMIs/VFDs controlling process and automation equipment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of technical experience working with AC/DC/VFD drives. Preferred Allen Bradley AC/DC products including Powerflex and Kinetix products.
  • Display good mechanical skills and abilities.
  • Will consider military experience and training in lieu of industrial experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM on a 4 days on followed by 4 day off schedule including weekends.
