Title:  Regional Customs Manager

We're looking for a REGIONAL CUSTOMS MANAGER to be the customs and trade Affairs expert for CommScope's EMEA logistics operation. Acting as a liaison between CommScope and anyone who is involved in the movement of goods to/from CommScope plants and customers.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that CommScope’s IT systems (ERP and DMS system) are compliant with national and international customs’ standards and laws.
  • Identify learnings and training needs from a AEO risk assessment, monitoring outcomes, audit findings and incident root causing, develop educational materials and events, and deliver training and communication events for the logistics teams.
  • Responsible for Customs and Trade compliance activities including the AEO certification, AEO process documents and maintains the process documents, including AO/IC procedures.
  • Act as first point of contact for Customs & Trade Compliance related matters and will escalate trade compliance issues to regional and senior management as needed.
  • Support strategic initiatives for all Logistics and Planning activities for assigned region(s), working closely with Planning and Logistics teams at all manufacturing locations and distribution centers.
  • Assist in the establishment of standard operational procedures for distribution centers within assigned region and oversee the execution and measurement of those standards.
  • Supports the sales team with business development and interac with existing and prospective customers.
  • Answering questions about services offered or required. Investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Develop and enhance the global supply chain organisational capability in managing import or export trade compliance.
  • Evaluate the practicality and effectiveness of corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Perform investigations into significant supply chain incidents related to import or export trade compliance and ensure root cause is identified and appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.


Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience woking with International Import & Export Regulations; Customs Authorities, Customs Brokers, Clearance Procedures, Export Licenses, ITAR, EAR.
  • Must have completed Dutch Customs Broker exam (Douane Declarant opleiding) & the MCTA (Manager Customs & Trade Affairs) post HBO study.
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
  • A proven background working in the customs regulation sector
  • Excellent Dutch and English written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to discuss issues with internal/external contacts and prepare various reports
  • Ability to analyze and think tactically and strategically.
  • Proven cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from all cultures.
  • Ability to lead a high-performance team and coach individuals to improve personal performance.
  • Expertise in global supply chain including the transport of supplies and finished goods via all modes of transportation.
  • Significant experience with ERP and reporting tools required, SAP and Business Objects preferred
  • In depth experience of product classification (export and import).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of International Regulatory practices & Current Industry practice - US, UK, EMEA & APAC.
  • Strong understanding of the supply chain FMG Mobile / Tech or Electronic sectors.
  • Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain poise and a positive attitude in a challenging.
  • A self-starting & motivated individual, someone with the ability to exert tactful influence in a matrixed organization - must be a strong team player and communicator within a matrix organisation.
