Manager, Engineering & Maintenance

 

General Summary

Manage and provide leadership and resources to the CommScope maintenance and engineering staff so both facilities and equipment are maintained to defined specifications and operate efficiently to meet the production plan within budgetary constraints. Reduce process and product variability to improve quality and to reduce cost. Ensure there are sufficient technical capabilities, internal and external, to support the technologies utilized in the processes and automation technologies. Manage materials budget of the CommScope facility.

Manage a staff of hourly and salaried employees in the maintenance and engineering department of the CommScope facility in support of the plant’s objectives.

Support the CommScope operations and assist within a cross functional team in a variety of technical assignments, as well as for strategic projects and critical repairs. Continuously search for and create innovative solutions to technological problems.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
 

  • Manage the CommScope Maintenance and Engineering functions while ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment and control systems.
  • Manage the CommScope electrical and mechanical maintenance  fitters, Controls engineer(s), process  engineer(s) and maintenance supervisor to ensure that plant efficiency and optimization projects are meeting schedule, budget and specifications.
  • Develop a career path for the maintenance and engineering staff in CommScope. Provide technical expertise to maintenance supervisors & engineering staff.
  • Provide long-term direction & goal setting for process control and automation.
  • Manage capital projects related to automation and process control systems.
  • Provide technological process improvements and cost savings to the operations in addition to providing daily technical support to the CommScope Operation.
  • Design, estimate, install and start-up systems for process automation and control in CommScope with the help of the engineering & maintenance staff.
  • Provide the technology with the leadership, technical capability and direction for all strategic projects from project concept/generation through start-up and de-bugging.
  • Administer plant personnel and safety policies and procedures for the CommScope maintenance department.
  • Strategic Project Support – provide technical support as needed for strategic projects throughout the Copper and Fibre technologies to increase production capacity.

 

The following are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job.
 

Skills/knowledge:

 

  • BSc or MSc Degree with 7/10 years’ experience in Managing Projects in a Manufacturing environment
  • 5- 7 Years’ Experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills in mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and Control systems
  • Knowledge and experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Time management skills, ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have people management experience
