Title:  Staff Software Engineer

An expert engineer with 7 to 9 years exp in software “manual testing” and hands on “automation exposure / capability” (Java & Python) preferably in cloud / network / telecom /OTT media streaming domains

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ability to independently work in large, multi-functional teams to deliver high-quality features.
  • Review feature requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, design documents and defect descriptions and create solid test plans that meet functional as well as non-functional testing requirements
  • Functional, regression, component, system (end to end), performance and soak testing
  • Design and develop reliable, scalable, and maintainable test automation framework and automated tests to validate complex hybrid cloud infrastructure features
  • Test execution with an intent to discover / unearth quality issues and provide scalable and substantial insight about the product quality.
  • Isolate, reproduce, fix, and resolve issues that surface during testing. Diagnose, debug and root-cause issues and defects
  • Web server testing, testing on Linux and gateway clients
  • Contribute towards system installation and configuration, as well as support documentation of tested applications
  • Providing timely and accurate analysis of findings & test reports
  • Simulate customer environment, reproduce, debug, and analyze customer issues, participate in customer support
  • Test and bug lifecycle management using Jira and other equivalent tools
  • Follow and promote standard methodologies, testability, defect prevention strategies, and influence better software design across product lines
  • Communicate and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation processes and plans

Drive quality initiatives and work on additional tasks/responsibilities that will positively contribute towards team, department, and company goals

Skills Required

Excellent knowledge and work experience in most of the following areas:

  • Extensive experience in software manual testing on networking products
  • Experience in creating and implementing system and component level test plans, test cases and test reports for large/complex projects
  • Test development experience with modern scripting or programming languages. Experience with Python is a must.
  • Strong exposure to developing automation test frameworks using Java and Python to simulate required environment.
  • Experience developing complex test automation scripts and/or automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to Robot framework for test automation is a plus
  • Familiarity with testing on Unix/Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience with Linux is a must, any other OS is a plus
  • Strong knowledge on Software testing standard practices
  • Ability to reprioritize and multi-task based upon changing project needs
  • Dedicated with a desire to learn new technologies
  • Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication skills with a positive attitude to engage with stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards
  • Passion to build/test/maintain large scalable systems
  • Have a background in deploying and/or securing container-based systems such as Docker or Kubernetes on private and public clouds (OpenStack, AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with advanced concepts of computer architecture, data structures and standard design & programming practices
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM
  • Good academic record with B.E. / B.Tech. or equivalent in CS / ECE or M.E. / M.Tech. / MS in Computer science / application / engineering
