Role: Deployment System Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Planning & Design fiber routes, Fiber splicing, BOM and lay-out counts including: FTTx networks
- Engineering Permit in aerial, or underground & Special authority areas.
- Prepare Construction design Package
- Work within defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy with final drawings.
- Drafts and designs new plant or plant extension and as-builts utilizing the client specific software.
- Determine method to design the plant changes with minimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost and ensures quality of design.
Requirements of the role:
- 7-10 years of experience in the utilities and telecommunications sector would be an asset.
- Experience with fiber design software such as AutoCAD, QGIS, Comsof, Spatial net, Quick Pole, and other related planning software
- Experience in FTTx, GPON and other fiber technologies
- Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel).
- Good verbal, written and communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills and adapt.
- Ability to liaise with customers and clients to resolve any challenges.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, team player and adaptable.
- Degree in Engineering ECE, Electrical and Civil
- Experienced in the design of aerial and underground facilities, with ability to interpret telecom facilities on records, maps and fielding notes.
- Knowledge of layout and design of the telecommunication network elements in accordance with the network design criteria for FTTx builds
- Firm understanding of right-of-way and route assessments to confirm that a route corridor is acceptable and will be built in the most cost-effective manner.
