As a Principal Software Engineer you will join the team delivering a variety of projects into customers homes. Working in an Agile development environment, you will work closely with our teams around the world to develop and deliver innovative new features. You will use your experience to mentor team members and help improve software development process.


  • Analyze, develop, design, and maintain software for Commscope products and systems.
  • Serve as Technical Lead/Core Team Lead for the Definition, Design and Development of complex products.
  • Software development for IP-based, multi-screen video delivery and ad insertion applications.
  • Strong remote interaction and collaboration with developers abroad.
  • Software development execution against plans, priorities and delivery commitments under Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Take ownership, troubleshoot and chase down problems in complex inter-connected systems.
  • Provide all necessary software support to project manager and other project disciplines to ensure project objectives are being met.
  • Conduct quantitative studies on research projects, which will justify technological and architectural strategies employed in new product development.
  • Manage risk mitigation of new technologies and strategies used.
  • Independently resolve technical problems, initiating design changes and providing engineering support as per project task needs.
  • Perform other duties as required.


  • A seasoned professional having wide-ranging experience and with a full understanding of software development process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronic Systems Engineering or related.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Master of Science with specialization on Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Oracle/SQL knowledge & experience
  • Knowledge of SNMP
  • Familiarity with custom file systems
  • Detailed knowledge of networking protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SCTP, and RTSP)
  • Experience in file transfer and video delivery
  • Working with RAID arrays in Linux
  • Not required, but a plus: SCTE 30/35 knowledge
  • Experience developing custom Linux kernel modules.
  • Experience with build tools such as hierarchical make files, RPM manifests, shell scripts, ClearCase, perl5, lex, yacc
  • Experience working in large and complex C programs including creation of custom threading modules
  • Expertise in C++, Oracle SQL*Plus, MFC(including RogueWave)
  • Experience in real-time programming
  • Experience working with apache2, CGI, XML
  • Ability to tune Linux system behavior
  • At least one Oracle DBA and a DB developer with C skills
