Title:  DAS Project Manager

Due to our continued growth and customer demand we are currently recruiting for a qualified DAS Project Manager for an opportunity within the Distributed Coverage and Capacity Solutions (DCCS) group.  The DAS Project Manager will be generally responsible for the South Central/Southeastern US and will preferably live in one of the following major cities or metropolitan area:  Dallas (Texas), Orlando,Tampa or Miami (Florida)


POSITION SUMMARY:

Project Manager will oversee the development and execution of systems, projects and proposals. Assignments will vary greatly in size and scope from multi-million-dollar neutral host networks to small, single operator DAS networks. Job responsibilities include developing engineering proposals with detailed RF design solutions, project budgets, project schedules, material/subcontractor selections, and the direction of all technical aspects for assigned projects. Individual shall be held accountable for related financial, schedule and quality goals of each project.  

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Designing in-building and repeater systems. Specific responsibilities include: Interfacing with sales and customer representatives to determine coverage requirements and customer needs. Completing RF surveys to determine path loss characteristics. Developing and analyzing RF link budgets. Developing project requirements, including statements of work and subcontractor contracts. Drafting customer proposals describing recommended coverage solutions, including lists of materials and services. Performance will be measured based on compliance to established performance specifications, including accuracy of bill of materials and installation costs, RF system performance, and overall presentation of proposals.
  • Acting as on-site Project Manager for specific projects assigned. Specific details include: Creating and following project schedules. Interfacing with customers and installation crews as needed to successfully complete project. Submitting/tracking materials and equipment required for installation. Creating and following through change orders for customers as appropriate. Performance will be measured based on compliance to established performance specifications, engineering schedules, and cost-of-goods sold standards.
  • Installing and commissioning new systems. Detailed tasks include: Demonstrating proficiency in using test equipment. Troubleshooting system and test equipment problems to satisfactory resolution. Working with the technical support staff to address and solve problems to customer’s satisfaction. Performance will be measured based on the feedback from the technical support staff and the number/type of requests for assistance.
  • Participating as an active team member of the CommScope DCCS division. Specific responsibilities include: Working with other team members as needed to complete proposals and projects accurately and efficiently. Cooperating with regional sales representatives to address customer concerns in a timely manner. Promoting CommScope products and services to potential customers. Performance will be measured based on their contributions to these initiatives and the overall performance of the project organization.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Home office, work site, and customer facilities.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 25% travel required (this will vary from week-to-week depending upon specific projects but this is a general average).


EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

  • Fluency with standard business applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, SAP, Project, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of wireless networks, including modulation techniques (CDMA, UMTS, LTE etc), amplifier/antenna/cable theory, link budgets, propagation tools, etc. Proficient knowledge of RF test equipment, network components, and programming in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of iBWave Indoor DAS Design and Modeling Software.
     

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

  • High level technical decisions regarding system architectures, design margins, schedule, and budgets.
  • Resource management and forecasting related to the execution of assigned projects.
  • Preparation of proposals and statements of work.
  • Subcontractor evaluation and selection.
  • Approval of material purchase orders beyond original bills of material.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 5 years technical experience or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years technical experience
  • Solid background in RF principles and systems engineering with experience with in-building and repeater applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a demanding, results-driven environment.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Solid experience with DAS project management is preferred
  • Experience with iBWave In-Building Design Software is preferred
  • BSEE or MSEE Preferred
