Title:  Principal Digital Hardware Design Engineer

CommScope is hiring a Principal Digital Hardware Design Engineer in Lynchburg VA or Lowell MA. Our ideal candidate will be able to work out of our Lynchburg VA facility or open to relocate to this area. Relocation assistance is available if needed.


How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

As a Digital Hardware Design Engineer in with you will design, develop, and support digital circuits and systems used in mobile radio repeaters and distributed antenna systems (DAS). Being a member of a multi-functional team, this involves working directly with software, RF, mechanical, and other digital hardware engineers and taking projects from concept to production. You will simulate, prototype, and qualify complex high-speed digital designs, as well as all types of logic, interface, and power circuits. We’re a fast-paced group whose culture emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and team success along with individual growth and achievement.


Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of related experience or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of related experience
  • Experience designing microprocessor-based system hardware like TI DSP, ARM, SOC, x86 or similar
  • Experience with circuit simulation, schematic, and PCB layout tools.
  • Hands-on experience with I/O bus interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, SerDes (JESD204B), RS232, UART, SPI, I2C and DDR4, eMMC memories
  • Proficiency with digital test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.


You will excite us if you have:

  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD programmable logic design
  • Experience with mixed-signal design and digital RF circuits & components
  • Understanding of wireless communication systems, especially 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies
  • Experience with test automation tools such as LabView, Visual Basic, or other programming languages
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
