How You'll Help us Connect the World
As a Staff Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer at CommScope, you will focus on new product introduction, and sustain manufacturing with responsibilities for Process readiness, Cost reductions, Capacity management and Design for Manufacturability of Mechanical/Electrical PCBAs. Work with design engineering, quality, factory, and suppliers to introduce new products (NPI).  Provide factory sustaining support, improve yields and ensure the product has enough margin for volume production.

As a Staff Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineer, you will be the TechOPS interface to the design and factory teams with the responsibility for ensuring that high quality/cost-effective products are released to, and sustained in, manufacturing. You are well versed in all factory manufacturing aspects and will develop front end assembly processes (SMT, AOI, Through-hole process, X-ray, Selective Wave, etc.).

Responsibilities of the Staff Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer would have emphasis on concurrent engineering, Design for Manufacturability, New Product Introduction and sustaining support of product after release.


Investigation, design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes and technology for the introduction of new products. Liaise with Quality Assurance, Product Design Engineering, factory Engineering, Supply Chain Business Operations, and others as necessary.
Design for Testability of PWB, PWA and Mechanical Assemblies, pre and post build DFM reviews, Drive DFX issues from End of Build Reports
Design for Manufacturability - assure the detection of faults in PCBAs, reduce the cost and time associated with product launch, and reduce the number of design defects found in the factory.
Develop procedures, methods, and tools, for verification of the company's products, validate assembly of manufacturing fixtures and jigs, and participate in design verification of new equipment.
Verify factory procedures and tools for calibration and verification of equipment to ensure that it is calibrated and certified according to the corresponding procedures.
Use tools (GR&R, cpk, strain gauge, flying probe) to monitor product performance and assure margin for products and electrical-mechanical subassemblies.
Develop action plans to characterize and mitigate high risks due to new manufacturing techniques, new or unique devices (NUDs), or new product technologies.
Either independently or by leading a problem-solving team, root-cause and resolve quality, reliability, yield, and cost issues as they arise. Drives corrective actions (FMEA, 8D/DMAIC).
Review all requirements necessary for proper documentation associated with new process/product introductions.
Compilation of Capital Expenditure requisitions for new process equipment as required.


Required Qualifications for Consideration
•    3+ years related Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Bachelor Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical).
•    Experience in manufacture of electronic assemblies and modules, with understanding of associated equipment.
•    Proficient in English Language (written and spoken).
•    Knowledge in electronic manufacture; (SMT, AOI, Through-hole process, X-ray, Selective Wave, etc.)
•    Working knowledge of statistical methods and process capability, ability to apply statistical tools – (cpk, GR&R, DOE).
•    Quality improvement methods (pareto, root cause analysis, FMEA, 8D/DMAIC, etc). 
•    Must be able to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
•    Able to generate, follow and explain detailed proposals and operating procedures (i.e. assembly instructions, inspection procedures, capital proposals).
•    Must be able to analyze and correct complex product and/or process issues using independent judgment
•    Demonstrate mechanical and/or electrical problem-solving skills. 
•    Must be able to travel – up to 20% depending on project.

•    Working knowledge of Valor, Mentor, Cadence, or PADS is a plus.
•    Knowledge of Quality Control principles and methodology is a plus.
